  A shattering experience. My mother had arranged for an out of town funeral home but when she passed away her body had to held until they could pick it up. Hospice called Buck Ashcraft to hold the body until it could be picked up. They demanded a credit card number before they would do anything. I'm not sure whether they told me what the charge would be because I was too upset and really had no alternative. I assumed it would be reasonable. I learned later from another funeral home company that the Buck Ashcraft charge was totally exorbitant--roughly double what it should be. When I requested an adjustment, Ashcraft did not even reply. Believe me you will be in no condition to "shop" for funeral home prices when the time comes. Go somewhere else.
